Best House on the Block Season 1 Episode 9
It'south the pointy end of Formal Lounge week and everything is either going pear-shaped or peachy — while some contestants have officially gone bananas.

Over in House one, Mitch and Marker are admittedly smashing it, miles ahead with their painting. They're so skilled upwards, they even have the time to teach newlyweds Tess and Luke how to use a spray gun to cut back their painting time.
The hapless pair have struggled so far in the contest, and this time-saving skill allows them to catch upward and deliver their starting time finished room… agree that idea. Nothing from the lesson stuck, and then nosotros're dorsum to brushes.
This week, Tess and Luke have learned their lesson about second guessing themselves and making last minute changes… oh look, hold that thought too. Equally Luke expresses his joy about finishing their shelving, Tess announces she loathes information technology. They decide to make last minute changes.
"This is ridiculous," Tess laments. "We don't belong on this f---ing Television receiver prove. We're not good enough for information technology." Thankfully for Tess, Mitch and Marker accept and then much time on their hands after finishing spraying their room, they're able to help the Cairns couple complete their styling — and thus, finish their first room on The Cake.
As well swell for help is Perth mum El'ise. She'southward busy trying to style her room while married man Matt is withal actually building it. He's flabbergasted. She's snappy. El'ise eventually breaks down in tears only manages to rally to terminate the room, just in fourth dimension for judging.
The great news is, amidst all this chaos, Mitch has somehow managed to pull together this outfit for judging — and information technology'southward sensational.
This week's winner doesn't just score ten grand, but also $55,000 worth of Gaggenau kitchen appliances and everyone wants them.
Mitch and Mark's formal lounge room is as stunning every bit Mitch's fashion ensemble. He has styled using burnt orangish, emerald dark-green and a rich blueish, and he's determined to get a win for it.
"Honey, I'yard dwelling!" beams gauge Darren Palmer when he arrives, and the other judges are just as enamoured.
The appeal doesn't behave over to Tess and Luke'due south house and unfortunately for Tess, the negative feedback isn't just reserved for the shelving, which the judges agree isn't right. "They're not getting the sense of scale and not getting the sense of style," Shaynna Blaze grimaces. Lack of artwork, badly hung paintings and poorly placed lighting let the squad downward as Shaynna comments that she tin can tell Tess has been "panicking".
NSW couple Andy and Deb were terrified virtually using a paint other than white in their room and managed to push themselves to finish 1 wall in green. The judges aren't impressed with their lack of commitment to colour. "They probably weren't brave plenty to [paint the whole room green], but peradventure they should have been," says Neale Whitaker frankly.
However, these two nailed everything else, equally Darren claims they seem to have a knack for making grand spaces experience personal. Deb is in one case once more given massive props for her styling.
The judges' excitement grows as they enter Matt and El'ise's business firm. Shaynna clasps her hands to her face as she surveys the heritage details and working fireplace. "This is pretty spectacular," says Neale. "This is exceptionally skillful," Darren murmurs. "I'thousand fizzing out near it."
"I don't retrieve I've ever walked into a room on The Block that feels as confident as this one," adds Neale. "It's a room that says, "I know who I am, and I know what I'm worth."
Another couple focused on extravagance is Jesse and Mel, and this calendar week, the St Kilda pair spared no expense. The judges beloved Jesse's giant wooden doors almost equally much as he does. (He's named them 'Doorsy' and is confident they'll score him the win.)
Unfortunately for Jesse, Doorsy also opens to reveal a room the judges notice likewise cold. They take some elements that work — particularly their contemporary-traditional lighting fusion — but others that just autumn short. The marble perimeter leaves Shaynna speechless — and not in a good way.
Hearing this, Jesse shrugs and offers, "Doesn't take expensive taste."
"Information technology's a Calacutta marble tile," he continues, unfazed. "Doesn't she take expensive gustation?"
"I can tell you she has great taste," host Scott Cam fires back, as the other contestants cringe.
Jesse insists his wealthy existent estate clients would know exactly what the edge is all most but unfortunately for him, approximate Darren agrees with Shaynna, noting that the controversial border jars with the rest of the room. "It feels a lilliputian forced to me," observes Neale Whitaker. "I feel like I'm in some kind of corporate waiting room."
For a couple aiming for "corporate luxury", this isn't the feedback they are later. "Honestly, I thought it had emotion," Jesse says defensively. "When I was looking at it, I almost had a tear in my eye I idea information technology was so beautiful." Drying his tears, Jesse vows to continue doing exactly what he's doing — regardless of the judge's advice. It remains to be seen exactly what Shaynna — and her expensive gustatory modality — will make of that approach.
The judging is exceptionally tight on what the judges deem the best week ii room reveals in the history of The Block. Ultimately, El'ise and Matt take the win — and the Gaggenau — past just half a point. They likewise claim the beginning ten-point score of the serial, while Mitch and Mark grimace well-nigh their third 2d placing in as many weeks. Hold onto your spray guns — something tells us these guys won't appreciate playing bridesmaid for very much longer.
